The project Climate for Children conducted by the student Darko Bozhinoski under the mentorship of the teaching assistant Gorgi Kakashevski, MSc from the Faculty of Informatics at FON University was awarded the bronze medal of “Incredible Green Contest” organised by Acer.
The aim of this competition was the use of information technologies in order to create solutions that will contribute toward environment protection and will raise awareness for these issues, especially among young people. The competition was open to all undergraduate and master students, who have an idea/product that can contribute toward better and ecologically healthier environment.
The competition lasted for almost a year, starting from July last year. More than 2100 teams from over 100 countries participated, and the team of FON University was the only representative from Macedonia that was able to enter the finals. Our team’s project was awarded with the bronze medal, which is a great honour and pleasure.
In this project our goal was to raise awareness of the children from the early ages about nowadays world’s situation according to the problems defined in MDG. We’ve made a serial of interactive multimedia presentations using different datasets. Our goal is to create a huge range of interactive presentations and games and to include these problems in the education process using the latest technology and encourage the teachers to use the opened data to stimulate the children and raise awareness, because children are our future.
